The secret for the best Greek yogurt crockpot chicken
In case you didn’t know, I want to tell you that the combination of yogurt, olive oil and garlic is perfect to cook a tasty and tender chicken.
Basically, the yogurt tenderizes the chicken and gives it the ideal texture. And the olive oil, garlic and spices used contribute significantly to the fabulous taste of this Greek yogurt chicken.
However, the secret for the best Greek yogurt crockpot chicken is to marinate it at least 2-3 hours before cooking.
I like to leave the meat to marinate overnight, but you can marinate it for less, if you’re in a hurry.
Different marinades to make at home
There are many types of marinades that can be used at home, which are very easy to make.
Below I will present the main types of marinades that I use, depending on the type of meat I am going to cook.
- for fish, and especially for salmon, I love to use a marinade with honey and mustard. In this case, I recommend you try the Honey Mustard Salmon recipe, which is incredibly tasty.
- for pork, I like to use a marinade that contains tomato juice and garlic, along with olive oil and spices. Please try the Roasted Pork Loin recipe to convince yourself of the incredible taste of this marinade.
- for pork ribs, which I cook most often in a slow cooker and then on the grill, I like to use a marinade made of tomato juice, crushed garlic, honey and spices. Try it and I guarantee that you will enjoy every bite.
- for lamb, which I don’t eat, but occasionally cook, for Easter, I always choose a marinade similar to the one in today’s recipe. Specifically, a marinade that includes yogurt, olive oil, garlic, spices and sprigs of rosemary or thyme will help you cook an absolutely fabulous lamb roast
- for chicken, I mostly use this Greek yogurt crockpot chicken recipe, but I also happen to use a tomato juice-based marinade.
Regardless of the type of marinade you will prepare, if you have the opportunity to leave the meat to marinate for at least 2-3 hours before cooking, the result will be absolutely delicious.
