The secret for the best coconut balls recipe
I know I repeat this with every recipe posted on the blog, but the secret to a successful dish is to choose the best quality ingredients.
In our case, for these delicious no-bake coconut balls, we will need powdered milk, but also fatty butter.
Since we are talking about no-bake coconut balls, an 80% fat butter will help us achieve a creamy texture for these homemade Raffaello coconut balls.
I personally don’t use almonds inside the coconut balls because Sofia doesn’t like to chew them, but if you want a similar result to the original Raffaello coconut balls, please use shelled almonds.

- 80 g Icing brown sugar

- Add the water and boil them for 7 MIN – 100℃ (356℉) – SPEED 2;
- Add 1tsp of vanilla extract, one pinch salt and the butter and mix them using 3 MIN – 100℃ (356℉) – SPEED 2;
- In a different bowl mix the coconut flakes (100gr) with the powdered milk (By doing this, you eliminate the risk of forming lumps). Add this mixture into the missing bowl and select 2 MIN – SPEED 4 COUNTERCLOCKWISE;If you consider the mixture too dry, you can add more water.
- Place the plastic foil on top of the mixture (on its surface) and let it cool for 1 hour;
- After the time passed, use the mixture still a little warm, and shape small balls into your palms. If you want to use almonds, place them in the middle of the balls.
- Place them into a box/pan/bowl with coconut flakes to allow the flakes to stick on the balls.

Healthy coconut balls recipe
From my point of view, any dish made from scratch is healthier than one bought from the store. And the main argument to support this lies in the fact that this way you have total control over the ingredients used.
Today, for no bake coconut balls I am referring especially to the quality of the ingredients used and the amount of sugar.
Just like I mentioned in all the other dessert recipes on the blog, regarding the amount of sugar used, I recommend that you frequently taste the dessert while cooking it and limit yourself to a minimum amount of sugar. Now, it depends on everyone’s preferences how much they can give up sugar. In addition, I strongly recommend that you replace ultra-processed white sugar with raw sugar.
Kid-friendly no bake coconut balls
The easiest way to turn any dessert into a kid-friendly recipe, requires to completely give up on sugar or the use of a significantly reduced amount of sugar, preferably raw sugar.
If you choose to give up sugar completely to achieve kid-friendly no bake coconut balls, I recommend replacing it with honey. The sweet taste is slightly different, but this old fashioned coconut balls recipe allows you to do this without problems.
Because honey is much sweeter than sugar, I suggest you use 1/2 quantity of honey compared to the amount of sugar mentioned in the recipe. Taste and adjust the amount of honey according to your preferences.
Festive cooking with kids
This no bake coconut balls recipe is just one of the ways you can spend quality time in the kitchen with the little ones.
