How to cook turkey stew?

In my opinion, turkey stew is a delicious and easy to make warm meal that can be easily adapted according to the ingredients that you find in your fridge or your pantry.

I prefer to cook turkey instead of chicken because I have the possibility of buying organic turkey stew from a local producer, and this makes me feel more comfortable than buying chicken meat from the store. But it is ok to cook whatever suits you better or whatever your family prefers.

It is well known that turkey needs a little more time to cook, in comparison with chicken. That’s why I always prefer to cook turkey stew in the CrockPot Express Multicooker. For me, the advantage of a multicooker is that it eases your work, because whether you choose the under-pressure programs or the Slowcooking program, you have the opportunity to add the ingredients from the start and this kitchen appliance makes all the cooking process, without your intervention.

Also, the multicooker assures an intense flavor of the meal, because, unlike the traditional cooking of turkey stew, in the pot, the steam is not lost during the cooking process. For this reason, all the flavors of the ingredients used are combined harmoniously, resulting in a dish full of taste and flavor.

As I told you before, it is not necessary for you to own this kitchen gadget in order to obtain a delicious result, but it can definitely help you a lot, especially with turkey.

The 5 ingredients stew recipe

I chose to present you this simple turkey stew recipe today because I want you to see that you can achieve an extremely tasty dish using ingredients that are available to anyone. Certainly, if you have the opportunity to use organic, fresh ingredients, the taste will be extraordinary, but you can also choose the frozen version for the vegetables used, if that’s easier for you.

As I already said, the list of ingredients needed for this stew recipe is very simple and short. Let’s take them one at a time:

Turkey breast: As I already mentioned, I prefer to cook turkey meat instead of chicken because I have access to organic turkey meat, raised on a local farm, where the animals are fed with organic grains. If you choose to cook chicken, then the cooking time can be reduced to half, as chicken cooks much faster than turkey. Also, it is not mandatory to use only turkey or chicken breast, because you can choose another component, such as turkey/chicken leg, cut into small pieces.

Vegetables: I like to use as many vegetables as possible in my family’s cooking, because I consider them to be an important source of vitamins and minerals. In addition, onions, carrots and tomatoes are vegetables that add extra taste to the dishes for which they are used. If you have it at home, you can also add red pepper, zucchini or eggplant, for an improved version of the turkey stew recipe.

I limited myself to using the vegetables I had on hand at the time of filming this wonderful turkey stew recipe. If you choose to use fresh tomatoes, you may need to add a little water along with the rest of the ingredients, but if you choose to use tomato juice, then make sure that the amount of liquid is sufficient to cook all the turkey stew ingredients evenly.

Chicken grease (or vegetable oil): I chose to use chicken grease for this recipe for the same reason I chose turkey meat 😊 Basically, having access to organic chicken fat, I considered it is healthier to use this ingredient. But if you don’t have such, you can easily use vegetable oil, sunflower or olive oil, depending on your preference.

Salt and pepper or any other spice I think depends on everyone’s preferences, so feel free to use whatever you like and delight your taste buds.

Having said that, I think I’ve already managed to convince you that I’m going to present you a simple but delicious turkey stew recipe. And, before I forget, if you choose to add potatoes to your turkey stew, this allows you to serve this simple dish without any other side dish, if you don’t have a lot of time for cooking.
